South Atlantic Region American Institute of Architects design awards: Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects

By Catherine Fox | Oct 13, 2009

Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects, among the most decorated of Atlanta’s architectural firms, took home two honor awards this year from the South Atlantic Region chapter of the AIA.

The home of Atlanta artist Radcliffe Bailey (below) is carefully inserted into a wooded property and designed to afford plentiful views. The second-floor library connects the home and the capacious studio.

The Jean Gray Hargrove Music Library at the University of California at Berkeley (below) is clad in overlapping slate tiles, the same skin as the Buckhead Library.
