The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia has received $120,000 to fund a third year of its Working Artist Project. The Charles Loridans Foundation is supporting the program with its third $100,000 grant. The museum received $20,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

The year-long program provides three metro Atlanta artists with a solo exhibition, promotion, a studio assistant, catalogue, and a major stipend to create work over the course of the year.

Allison Unruh, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, is this year’s juror. The museum is now inviting submissions from metro Atlanta professional artists. (See the museum’s Web site for the particulars.) The deadline is March 1.  The winners will be announced in April.

Tonight, MOCA GA will celebrate both the renewal of the project and the opening of “Twenty Georgia Masters,” an exhibition of artists from the museum’s permanent collection who are included in the book “Georgia Masterpieces: Selected Works from Georgia Museums.” Some of the artists will be in attendance to sign the book, which was published by the Georgia Council for the Arts. Also opening: “Recent Acquisitions.”
