Catherine Fox is a co-founder of ArtsCriticATL and heads up our visual arts department. She was art and architecture critic at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for 27 years. Winner of Cox Writer of the Year award, as well as Green Eyeshade and American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors awards, she has also written for ARTnews and other publications.
Parul Kapur Hinzen writes on books. A former New Yorker, she spent a decade in Europe before moving to Atlanta and has written for New York Newsday, the New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal Europe, the American Book Review, Esquire, Art in America, ARTnews and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Her debut novel, “Inside the Mirror,” about twin sisters who aspire to become artists in 1950s Bombay, is awaiting publication. She is at work on her second novel.
Phil Kloer writes about theater for ArtsCriticATL. He was an arts and entertainer writer and editor for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for 24 years and wrote, at one time or another, about theater, television, books, movies, music and popular culture. His first humor book, “What Every Groom Should Know Before His Wedding Night,” will be published as soon as he finds a reputable publisher.
Steve Murray writes on theater and film. An award-winning arts journalist and playwright, his plays have been produced internationally. “This Wonderful Life,” his take on the Frank Capra film “It’s a Wonderful Life,” has been one of the most frequently produced scripts in the U.S. since its premiere at Portland Center Stage in 2005.
Cynthia Bond Perry is ArtsCriticATL’s dance critic. She studied dance at NYU and the University of Oklahoma, earning a master’s degree in dance with work in ballet and modern techniques, and she’s danced professionally in New York and elsewhere. Her writings have appeared in Dance Magazine, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other publications. She teaches dance at Kennesaw State University.
Pierre Ruhe is editor-in-chief of ArtsCriticATL. He’s been a classical music critic for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Washington Post and London’s Financial Times and was an editor of National Public Radio’s “Performance Today.” He lectures frequently on arts criticism in the digital age, and he’s on the review committee of the new North American Opera Journal.
